"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

These sticks have been here since saturday.

The large one is a stick that Tommy Goebel of the SC Stingrays broke then we acquired.  The small one is Cora's stick and it was placed next to his stick after her game on Sunday.  And it is Wednesday and they are still in the same place.

Today....I was going to fuss at her about them.  But then I took a second look at them and realized how amazing it must be to be a 7 yr old and have your stick standing next to someone's stick that you so admire.  Cora has surrounded herself with such wonderful role models and Tommy is an amazing one!

And besides....if you take a picture of it then technically they shouldn't get fussed at for it!

Me and Him

When people ask me what the best part of doing Pampered Chef is, I could give them a variety of answers from products to trips to money.  But probably the absolutely best thing about my business isn't tangible.  It is the relationship that has developed between my husband and daughter.

The ground work for their relationship though was laid long before she was born.  Steve had gone to a nursing class with me and the instructor there said that the fathers have to find a way to bond with their baby and Steve did just that.  So from the time Cora was born until just recently wednesday night, Steve has been in charge of bath time/shower time.  And for the most part when Steve is not out of town he manages the entire bedtime process himself.  But I am always a "presence" in the house.

My Pampered Chef business allows me to work and bring in income but more importantly it gets me out of the house and lets Steve be a Daddy and allows Cora to have special time with just the two of them.  Another great thing that is exclusive to Cora and her Daddy is nail polish.  I can count on one hand how many times I have painted Cora's nails.  Nail polish was usually reserved for after Daddy/Daughter date nights and still to this day when Cora wants her nails done she goes to Steve.

Cora allowing her nails to dry after Daddy has done his magic.  We potty trained her with nail polish!

Now Friday is my biggest show night.  So I rarely have a Friday off.  But today my show cancelled so when Cora came home I was excited to tell her that I would be staying home tonight.  Cora immediately froze and said " But it is just supposed to be Me and Him tonight.....that is what Daddy said"  I will admit....my heart sank a little.  Cora has been a little clingy to me lately but for that one second that it took her to respond she didn't want me.....She wanted "him".  So I responded "Well do you think I can join you"  her response.."I will have to ask him"!

I know....I invaded their space.  It was their Friday not mine.  So that is why I am home right now typing this blog and the two of them are out and about planning the most fabulous birthday festivities for tomorrow.  For those two have their own language, their own jokes, their own music and their own love.  I will never be a part of that and that is ok.  Because from the outside looking in those two are simply amazing.
